My name is Matthew Boye, I am a student at the University of Wollongong studying a Bachelor of Science (Cell and molecular biology). Before UOW I studied at TAFE Ultimo and got a Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques and a Diploma of Laboratory Technology (Pathology). After I finished TAFE, I went searching for employment, but it was difficult to secure a position in the area I wanted to work in. Therefore, I decided to study at UOW because I wanted to learn more and gain more experience in the field of science and find a career in the area I would like. I enrolled in a Bachelor of Science (Cell and molecular biology) course because I have always been fascinated by science. Science helps us understand how everything works and I think it could help us solve our major problems and make the world a better place. The science of biology helps us understand how life and nature work and could help stop diseases and cancer. I’m not entirely sure what I want to do after I graduate from university but I’m hoping to work in a routine and laboratory setting where I could be in a position to help people and the world.
